Biography


Patricia Rio Goncalves was born in 1977 in Lisbon, Portugal.

Her education as a singer started in 1996 in The music School Escola de Musica Nossa Sra do Cabo in Lisbon with singing teacher Joana Levy. She received her diploma in 2002. In 1996 she sang the roll of “A graduated girl” in the opera Street Scene by Kurt Weill in São Carlos Opera hall of Lisbon.

From 1998 until 2002 she was a member of the Lisbon Chamber Choir, and from 2000-2002 a member of the Gulbenkian Choir of Lisbon.


Before coming to Amsterdam Patrícia achieved her degree in biotechnology at the University “Lusófona” in Lisbon. She studied in the Conservatorium van Amsterdam with Claron MacFadden and Pierre Mak and got her diploma in 2008. She followed the Opera basis class program from the DNOA (the Netherlands Opera Academy).


Patrícia performed several concerts as a soloist in Portugal, and since she arrived in The Netherlands she sang as a soloist and in choirs with conductors as Franz Bruggen, Sam ten Velden, Hein Meens, Gijs Leenaars, Jos Vermunt, Reza Nowroozbaygi and Isabel Azevedo Moreira. Her opera performances include rolls like the Countess (Le nozze de Figaro, Lisbon 2000), Hänsel (Hänsel and Gretel, Lisbon 2001), Fiordiligi (Cosi van Tutte, Lisbon 2002), Eurydice (Orfeo, Lisbon 2002) and Belinda (Dido and Aeneas, Gelderlandfestival 2008).


With the conductor Reza Noweoozbaygi and Kamerorkest Bunnik Patrícia sung a recital with opera arias., and in April 2009 with orquestra and choir the cantata from Mendelshon: “Hör mein Bitten”. In June 2008 she had solo concerts in France with Couperin Vivaldi and Purcell, in August 2008 Patrícia sung the roll of Belinda in the opera Dido and Aeneas in The Netherlands.


Patricia took part in the masterliedklas of Udo Reinemann at the Conservatorium of Amsterdam and worked with teachers as Rudolf Jansen, Udo Reinemann, David Selig, and also with teachers as Valerie Guillorit, Hein Meens, Clare Vangelistic, and Joao Lourenco.


Patrícia is a classical singing teacher in the Muziekpakhuis in Amsterdam.
